Borrell Mauritania is one of the countries in the Sahel region most affected by the food and nutritional crisis. In addition, it ranks 159th in the list of 187 countries of the Human Development Index 2011. Currently, 12.2% of children die before their fifth birthday; most of these deaths are due to the lack of systems that respond to the nutrition, health, water and sanitation needs of women and children. This project aims, on the one hand, to strengthen health structures and local allies, providing material and training at least 70% of health personnel; on the other, it seeks to encourage behavioral changes of mothers of childbearing age so that they feed their babies correctly and thus prevent malnutrition.
